At The Gardens, volunteer Kendra has started a weekly Women’s Self Defense class to give female residents confidence and build community.
By focusing specific needs when training women to most effectively defend themselves, Kendra was able to show simple yet useful methods to respond to an assault. These involved what to do even when the assailant has a strength or height advantage. Each week will increase in difficulty level and will be combined with basic workout moves to ensure a healthy sweat at each session.
Especially for women, taking the time to learn the basics of self defense is empowering, and Hope is excited to offer this opportunity to residents and the community.
