This past summer, thanks to generous support from the Awaka Group, HB Youth Program hosted a dynamic and enriching summer camp from June 9 to June 27, 2025. The program was designed to foster the holistic development of youth, offering a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, skill-building, creative arts, cooking and baking sessions, STEAM projects, and engaging field trips. The camp’s goal was to nurture creativity, teamwork, and practical skills while providing a fun and memorable experience for participants.

The daily schedule included outdoor activities coordinated with the American Boy Scouts, offering youth opportunities for physical exercise, team-building, and social development. Campers engaged in art and craft projects, including step-by-step painting lessons led by instructors and hands-on STEAM activities designed to enhance problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration. Lunchtime was an interactive experience as well, with homemade meals such as pizza, tacos, fried rice, and sandwiches, teaching campers practical cooking skills and nutrition awareness.

The program also included specialized events, including a fishing activity at City Park Ferril Park, which combined outdoor adventure with environmental education. Additionally, the camp offered swimming sessions from June 23 to 27, during which campers participated in supervised swimming activities, with cold lunches and snacks provided in between. These activities encouraged both physical fitness and confidence in the water.

In August, the camp shifted focus to career exploration through the Self-Discovery Journey, aimed at inspiring youth to explore professional environments and discover potential career paths. Field trips included visits to the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse, Denver 7 News, Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, Awaka Group, Mike Business, and CSU Spur for medical field education. Each visit included direct communication with professionals, allowing campers to learn about various career options and engage in meaningful discussions about future opportunities.

Throughout the program, campers also participated in art, baking, and STEAM projects that reinforced teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. The summer camp provided a balanced mix of academics, physical activity, and practical life skills, ensuring that youth developed holistically while having fun in a safe, supportive environment.

The HB Youth Summer Camp 2025 was made possible through collaboration with community partners, dedicated staff, and generous support from local organizations. By providing a wide variety of enriching experiences, the program continued HB Youth Program’s commitment to fostering personal growth, creativity, and confidence in the youth we serve.
